Ovulation question please help?

I'm new to this ttc but i have read about it all a bit from what I know when you have the slimy snot like discharge you should baby dance is this right? The reason I ask is i have been using digital ovulation kits but when i had fertile like snot like mucus it was negative thinking my pcos could be giving false reading i baby danced anyway having lots of mucus which isn't normal for me. So we baby danced and I tested the next day to see if a smiley face came up nothing and no discharge at all. Now two days later i get a smiley face but have no fertile mucus or discharge does that mean i missed my opportunity should we baby dance tonight or have i missed out? im really confused right now.
