My best friend, my horse.?
i know its hard. Sometimes you just need to let go. Speak to a vet about her chances of a good quality life after this. You have done a lot for the horse already but if you love her so much im sure you understand that a life in constant pain and discomfort is not a quality of life. It might be more mercy to put her down than just waiting for her to die slowly and painfully. Sometimes we can feed them whatever we want but the body of an old horse cannot take up the nutrients of the food as so many of the cells are dying. With all the abcesses it sounds like her body cant fight the environment anymore. Be strong. Just because you arent ready you might be frightened and think she is not ready but it sounds like she is and you are not. Dont let her suffer. I wish you strength. Ive had to make the same decision before.
