In an outpatient basis, how appropriate is it to be prescribed spironolactone & furosemide to treat ascites?

I read an article from NIH that claimed spironolactone alone is sufficient in treating moderate ascites, and that it is "equally effective" compared to the concomitant therapy. Furthermore, it is preferred because it allows for low dose adjustment. However, with the concomitant therapy, close monitoring is necessary to prevent hypotension, electrolyte imbalance/depletion, etc., and is therefore most suitable in an inpatient basis.
